Most people in the US think about Bavarian kitchen if the talk about German food. “Schweinshaxe”, “Weißwürste”, “Brezel” and others. But even in the different parts of Bavaria there are regional differences in cooking.
Beer is not alcohol in Bavaria it’s food. Therefore in former times nearly every small village had its own brewery. The concentration on the German beer market with only a few breweries dominating the market has still not arrived in most parts of Bavaria. There are some 40 types of beer and over 4,000 brands of Bavarian beer.
If you come to Bavaria you have to visit one of the famous beer gardens. Different from all other parts of Germany you can bring your own food and just have to buy the beer. Do not try that somewhere else in Germany. That is what I call crazy.
